The mission of the New York State Academy for Teaching and Learning (NYSATL) is to improve the achievement of all students by enhancing teachers' abilities to provide quality instruction based on the New York State learning standards.

The Academy believes that on-going teacher-to-teacher interaction focusing on the improvement of learning experiences within the context of the Statewide Peer Review process is an effective professional development tool for teachers.

The Academy promotes the use of the Statewide Peer Review process as a means of achieving quality standards-based instruction and high levels of student achievement.
