Personal comments on the learning experience:

Comments from: Mary P. Colvard:

Many students put a large amount of time into the project and felt an intense pride in what they had done. The father of one of my more gifted students called and commented that his son had learned how to use PowerPoint and create a slide show using the images selected from the Web faster than most of the students he deals with at the college level. The response of the students and the parents was extremely positive. One young lady asked if her social studies class could come in and use my computer system to display a slide show she had created for a project in Global History. She really enjoyed what she had been able to do for biology and used the same strategy for another assignment.

Because of the concentrated effort students put into doing this project, they learned a lot of good biology and practical math. They also learned how to use technology to find information and to present their findings to their colleagues. The student enthusiasm was wonderful and for a change my room smelled good! The citrus aroma is much more pleasant than preservative and bacterial gases. The Vitamin C Investigation was an effective learning tool for all levels of students.
