Creating this list has changed my teaching more than any other thing
that I have done--it is a constant reminder to make my students learning more
active. Students enjoy opportunities to show what they know using their learning styles
and creativity. They will often work harder if they are allowed to select their own
assignment. Natural student curiosity about what others are doing results in sharing of
ideas in the classroom. Incorporating student work into my teaching has made classes more
interesting both for the students and for me.
How the lesson was reviewed by peers prior to submission and what
you learned from the review.
Approximately 100 of the items on the list have been contributed by
other teachers during workshops. Several professors from teacher education programs have
requested permission to use this with their preservice teachers or in staff development
programs.
