Evita
Perón: Mistress to Madonna
Students were evaluated through three performances: a report in outline form for the class discussion, a written press release and a video press release. The outline and video press releases were group projects. The written press release and participation in the discussion were evaluated individually. Report (outline) Students reported their findings in an outline in Spanish. In this report, they summarized her life and their reasons for approving or denying Evita Perón's induction into the IAW Hall of Fame. The groups were evaluated on their ability to synthesize the information, distinguish between fact and fiction and evaluate the nominee using the IAW criteria for induction. This report was the basis of the group's oral presentation. Depending on the decision,it could be necessary for each group to defend its own point of view during the discussion. Written Press Release The written press release was 75 to 100 words in length in Spanish. Each student wrote a press release using the outline the group created and the template for writing newspaper articles. In the press release, the student announced to the world the group's decision. It was necessary for the student to explain the group's decision citing specific examples. They were evaluated with the writing rubric for this course. (See pg. 103 of AP Spanish A Guide for the Language Course, Diaz, J., Leicher-Prieto, M., Nadelbach, G.J., 1989.) Video Press Release The video press release was between 60 to 90 seconds in duration. This video demonstrated to the world why the group decided to induct or not induct Evita Perón. The group's reasons must include specific examples. Students were evaluated with the speaking rubric for this course. (See pg. 109 of AP Spanish A Guide for the Language Course, Diaz, J., Leicher-Prieto, M., Nadelbach, G.J., 1989.) The rubrics are continually updated and given on the website www.collegeboard.org/ap |
